Estudi Tur Costa will soon host an exhibition by the sculptor Joan Cortés. The artist returns to Ibiza, where he previously showed his work at the legendary Carl van der Voort gallery, with a selection of recent sculptures alongside graphic work created in collaboration with the Fundació Pilar i Joan Miró a Mallorca @miromallorca.
The universe of Joan Cortés (Mallorca, 1964) is an understanding of place. He has the power to make a space his own with surprising ease. Always painstaking structures, highly complex, with light, solemn volumes polished until they disappear into the depth of white. Sinuous forms take over the space with overwhelming dignity. The sculptor has spoken, and says a great deal. Cortés is a name of his own among the essential figures of art.
